Australia - Voluntary Addition of Vitamin D Addition to Breakfast Cereals

On 12th January 2017 Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) amended the code to allow manufacturers to add Vitamin D to breakfast cereals.

Manufacturers are required to meet nutritional requirements prior to adding Vitamin D which are listed in Standard 1.2.1 of the Food Standards Code.  When the cereal has added Vitamin D there are labelling requirements which are listed in the updated Standard 1.3.2 include the claim and supporting information required to be included on the label.
