France - Control of pesticide residues in plant foods in 2016

More than five thousand samples from plant foods (fruits, vegetables, cereals, spices, etc.) put on the French market were analyzed.
2,945 had a quantifiable pesticide residue content. For 354 of them, the DGCCRF (Direction générale de la concurrence, de la consommation et de la répression des frauds) found a residual rate higher than the maximum authorized limit (LMR) and 197 were declared non-compliant.
The rate of non-compliance with European regulations is 2.1%.
Of the 2,661 foodstuffs of French origin controlled by the DGCCRF in 2016, 1.9% had traces of active substances whose use is not authorized in France.
Note that for products subject to official control on imports (R 669/2009 modified) the rate of non-compliance is high: 10.5%.
