Japan - “Aggressive agriculture” is coming!

A new strategy to promote the export of agricultural products
Mérieux NutriSciences Agriculture

Agricultural, forestry and fishing products and Japanese food are known for their quality and excellent level of safety and are key elements of the health and longevity of the Japanese people. Their demand is increasing at world level.
The improvement in the logistic networks, temperature control systems (as in the cold chain) and other technological innovations make it easier to keep products fresh while exporting.
The Japanese government is currently examining many new rules and is addressing farmers towards new organizational models so that they can expand their market freely.

Japan deems these innovations and the free market as an opportunity that it would like to ride by promoting export under the slogan “Aggressive agriculture”. According to the trade statistics of the Ministry of Finance, the value of exports of agricultural products has been increasing since 2013; in 2016, it amounted to 750 billion yen (about US $ 6.7 billion). The next goal is 1,000 billion yen (1 trillion) in 2019.
