South Korea - Imported food trends in the first half of 2017

Food imports amounted to $ 12.85 billion, up 16% from the previous year

According to the South Korean Ministry Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), the amount of imported food in the first half of 2017 was 12.853 billion dollars, 9.335 million tons in weight, and 332,313 cases from 162 countries.

Compared to the first half of 2016, imports increased by 15.9%, weight by 7.7%, and imports by 9.1%. Major importing countries were analyzed in the United States, China and Australia.
In addition, it was imported from Russia, Brazil, Germany, Vietnam, Thailand, and France. In the United States, beef and pork; in China, stainless steel utensils, containers, packaging and rice; in Australia, beef and food ingredients (vegetable oil, etc.) that must be refined and processed; in Vietnam, frozen shrimp and frozen shrimps; in Germany, pork and cheese were mainly imported.
