Portugal - Aflatoxins in roasted peanuts
It was released a notification (2017.1594) on the RASFF Portal alerting about contaminated roasted peanuts detected during an official control on the market.
The origin is unknown and they were caught on the distribution to Luxembourg and Portugal on the 4th of August.
The samples of the stock contained mycotoxins, specifically, aflatoxins with the analytical result of B1 = 59 µg/kg and Total = 71 µg/kg. According to the Commission Regulation (EC) No 1881/2006 of 19 December 2006 that sets maximum levels for certain contaminants in foodstuffs, the maximum levels of aflatoxins presented in Groundnuts (peanuts) and other oilseeds, to be subjected to sorting, or other physical treatment, before human consumption or use as an ingredient in foodstuffs are B1 = 8,0 µg/kg and to the Sum of B1, B2, G1 and G2 = 15,0 µg/kg.
