EU - The new regulation on organic farming has been published
The new regulation on organic farming has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union, whose application is expected only from 1 January 2021.
With the regulation (EU) 2018/848, which revises the regulation (CE) n. 834/2007, much attention is given to the indications for the consumer. The rules concern products from agriculture, including aquaculture and beekeeping, processed agricultural products intended for use as food or feed, sea salt and other salts used for food and essential oils.
There are many innovative aspects, such as the change to the import regime from third countries, which will make the system of importing extra-EU organic products more transparent, a mention to group certification, that could favor small businesses, and a notice on residue limits in organic products, a theme addressed for the first time.
