Japan – Export of fresh eggs towards the USA
Since July 2004, the Japanese “Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries” has been engaged with the US government in negotiating the possibility of exporting fresh eggs.
After this long negotiation, the two governments have recently reached an agreement on export conditions: export is at last granted since October 16. The main conditions are the following: eggs must be produced in Japan, must reach the US within 36 hours of deposition, they must be stored at -7.2 °C and pass the test for Salmonella as envisaged by US rules and applied according to HACCP rules.
