Japan - Handbook on “Pest control”
The project to regulate disinfestation continues
Not all pesticides used in Japan are registered, and their MRLs are higher than the rest of the world.
Since 2014, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has been working to establish a new system of rules for disinfestation, with the aim of encouraging the export of Japanese agricultural products.
The Handbook on pest control especially in citrus fruits, pears and apples was published recently. Among the various indications, there are the disinfestation techniques to be used when pesticides exceed the MRLs of the countries to which export is envisaged.
