Japan - Beef from the USA, Canada and Ireland
Following the recent assessment by the Japanese Food Safety Commission, Japan revises the conditions for importing beef from the US, Canada and Ireland.
After the most recent meetings among the governments concerned, the conditions for importing beef have been reformed since the condition currently in force –authorizing the entry into Japan only of meat butchered within the last 30 months– does no longer need to be respected.
Therefore, the new rule enables the import of meat over 30 months with the following exceptions only: tonsil, distal ileum of the small intestine and, for meat older than 30 months, the spinal cord, the spine and the head (except tongue, skin and cheek).
