GMO processed foods imported in the last five years (2013 - 2017) totaled 156,670 tons, and imports in 2017 increased by 473% since 2013. In response to requests from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the CCEJ (Citizens’ Coalition for Economic Justice) has been able to confirm data on GMO processed food imports for the past five years. 

The import of GMO processed food for five years was lower than that of GMO agricultural products (10,364,85 tons), but the growth rate was much higher: imports of GMOs increased only by 25%. Importers also increased significantly in these five years: from 344 in 2013 to 938 in 2017.
