Portugal - Innovative project
The technological center of the footwear industry adds another project, financed in six million euros, that "intends to go in the front line of what is done worldwide".
The concept of this idea is based on picking up residues from the food industry, such as leftovers of olive oil or locust beans, and then extract substances to produce or work on leather, chemically treat them or even make dyes.
These are the challenges with ecological materials of the new R&D project coordinated by the Technological Center of Footwear of Portugal (CTCP - Centro Tecnológico do Calçado de Portugal), to respond to the needs of companies in the sector. The project will involve 32 partners, including eight footwear companies, four leather production companies, universities and other technology centers.
