Italy: Italian agri-food exports go up with Ceta
The latest data on the provisional application of CETA, confirm the analysis carried out by the Italian Cia (Ufficio Studi Cia-Agricoltori Italiani) during the first quarter of 2018. Canadian wheat imports fell by 46% (-33% compared to the last survey), while Italian agri-food imports to Canada increased by 12% (9% in the first quarter. The Made in Italy wine grows by 11% and it is the most imported agri-product exported to Canada.
With this trend the forecasts of Cia-Italian Farmers for the end of the year foresee a decrease in grain imports from 796 thousand tons in 2017 to only 430 thousand and agri-food exports would be worth about 910 million, confirming CETA to be an advantageous agreement for the national trade.
