The Regulation on the application of Art. 26, para. 3, of Regulation (EU) no. 1169/2011 was published in the European Official Journal.
The article states that, where the country of origin or place of provenance of a food is indicated but it is not the same as that of its primary ingredient, the country of origin or place of provenance of the primary ingredient must also be indicated or the country of origin or place of provenance of the primary ingredient should be indicated as different from that of the food. 

According to the Regulation in question, the indication of the country of origin or the place of provenance of a primary ingredient, –when it does not come from the same country of origin or place of provenance as the country of the food– should be indicated or with reference to geographical areas or by means of a standard wording that can have the same meaning for the consumers.  

Although coming into force on the third day after publication in the Official Journal, the Regulation applies from Apr. 1, 2020.
Finally, it is established that food placed on the market or labeled before the date of application may be marketed until stocks last.
