Indonesia - Regulation on organic processed foods

In February 2017, the Journal of the Republic of Indonesia issued a new regulation on organic processed food. The law provides that anyone producing or importing organic processed food to Indonesia must adhere to strict quality, safety and information requirements. Among the various indications, the use irradiated food or raw materials and/or food or raw materials derived from genetic engineering for the production of organic processed food is prohibited.
A transitional period of 18 months is envisaged to allow such foods to comply with the provisions of the new Regulation.
