Poland - Inspection of Commercial Quality of Agri-food Products report
The commercial quality of agri-food products was verified in terms of organoleptic quality (380 products), physicochemical parameters (360 products) and labeling (690 products). The commercial quality control of the following products was carried out: groats, cereals and flakes, frozen fruit and vegetables, pulses, biscuits, wafers, biscuits, shortbreads, gingerbreads, aromatized wine-based drinks, fruit wines and other fermented beverages (cider, mead).
1.Organopeptic quality:
a.fruit and vegetable products: improper quality of the raw material, underestimated content of the declared ingredient, presence of undeclared ingredients
b.legume seeds and their products: improper quality of the raw material and the presence of pests.
2.Physicochemical parameters:
a.fruit and vegetable products: understated mass of the product, extract and acidity, presence of undeclared sweetener
b.fermented wine beverages: acidity that does not comply with the regulations, level of sweetness inconsistent with the regulations and the manufacturer's declaration, the content of the extract and sulphur dioxide inconsistent with the manufacturer's declaration, the presence of preservatives and sulphur dioxide in products labelled as “with no added sulphites” and “contains no preservatives”.
3.Labeling:
a.Improper product name, category
b.Ingredients: improper order, undeclared ingredients, undeclared allergen, no emphasis on substances causing allergies or intolerances in the list of ingredients
c.incorrect country of origin
d.storage conditions – no information about the storage conditions and the period after opening
e.nutritional value – lack of mandatory nutrition declaration, incorrect nutrition facts
f.unreadable label – to small font size.
