Poland – Champignon mushrooms: Polish export hit
Data shows that the production of champignon mushrooms in Poland in 2017 is expected to reach 325,000 tonnes.
From January to July, 130,200 tonnes of Polish champignons were exported, which is comparable to the export data from the previous year. The export of Polish champignons to the European countries fell by 2%, whereas about 21,000 tonnes of champignons were exported to non-EU countries, about 11% more than in 2016.
In Poland, the most popular is white, medium-sized champignon mushroom; however, the popularity of brown champignons is slowly increasing as more and more consumers buy them because of deeper taste than white champignon.
