Hong Kong - New Code on marketing for baby foods
Last June, the Government of Hong Kong announced the issuing of a new Code entitled “Hong Kong Code of Marketing of Formula Milk and Related Products and Food Products for Infants and Young Children (HK Code)”.
The purpose of the new regulation is to provide safe and adequate nutrition for babies and children under 36 months, protecting breastfeeding and ensuring the correct use of infant formulas, follow on formulas and products such as baby bottles and teats.
To achieve this, the new Code lists which marketing information is adequate and fair, forbidding images or texts that may compromise or deter breastfeeding.
