Portugal - ASAE supervises own-made bakeries and pastries
The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) implemented some actions addressed to bakeries and pastries with its own manufacture to comply with the rules on the exercising of an activity as well as food hygiene and labeling. Such actions carried out in 2019 led to the inspection of around 655 economic operators with 7 criminal and 175 administrative proceedings. The main criminal offenses include fraud, counterfeited or imitated brands, illegal use of designations of origin or geographical indications, among others. The main administrative offenses include non-compliance with general and specific hygiene requirements, the lack of prior communication, violation of the general duties of the operating entity of the restaurant and beverage premises, the lack of goods prices, the start of operation of a type 3 industrial establishment and the lack of metrological control.
